Mad Dog Murdoch

One of the sort of recurring themes of the current NOTW et alia scandals runs something like this:
For once, [Murdoch] had badly misjudged things.
The argument being that Murdoch's success is evidence of his brilliance when, as the growing number of facts seem to indicate, that Murdoch's success is evidence of corruption and cupidity and the current imbroglio proof that crime doesn't pay. It's much like the annoying  refrain about how the dimbulbs and crooks who caused the most recent Global Financial Crises are were the best and the brightest.
