She noticed something else. Those forlorn yards were peppered with overgrown gardens and big fruit trees, all bulging with the kind of bounty that comes from the high heat and afternoon thunderstorms that have defined Atlanta’s summer.

  2. regarding the urban fruit, the irony is that its probably healthier than the corporate farmed fruit most of us get in the store. which of course means that society will go into overdrive to discourage picking this kind of fruit because it benefits poor people.

  3. Undoubtedly at least as healthy, assuming the ground is saturated exhaust fumes. Yglesias major problem is that he can't think outside of his ideological box and, therefore, things as they are are true only if they support this ideology. Inasmuch as neoliberalism is wrong about everything, he can only make things as they are support his ideological view if he distorts them.
